Leading From the Front – Double Awards Shortlisting Sees Christmas Come Early

I got an early Christmas present this week, when the 2025 East Midlands Leadership Awards shortlist was released.

They are compiled by the editorial team on TheBusinessDesk and then judged by a panel of former winners and key stakeholders.

I couldn’t have dreamed it but I’ve been shortlisted in not one – but TWO – categories at the awards evening in Nottingham next March.

A quick peek at the other shortlisted leaders shows that I’m operating in highly esteemed company and it is so rewarding to be recognised for the hard work we put in everyday to nurture and develop our leaders and teams.

I had been nudged into entering these by a couple of people I know as it is not in my nature to blow my own trumpet but frankly….toot toot!

Entering and winning awards can benefit individuals and organisations in several ways, including building credibility and trust, enhancing brand visibility, motivating employees, differentiating yourself from competitors, attracting the best talent, opening up networking opportunities and providing benchmarking.

Now, entering awards requires an investment of time and effort, but the potential returns in visibility, morale, and market positioning make it a worthwhile endeavour for many businesses. In fact, I don’t know why I didn’t enter more of them sooner!

Maybe you should too? Or nominate a colleague, supplier, peer or business partner?

For the record, I’ve been shortlisted in the HR Leader and Education Leader categories – and I think that’s a great mixture of what we try and do.

I’d like to thank the judges at the 2025 East Midlands Leadership Awards – and wish all my fellow shortlisted leaders the very best of luck.

Maybe see you at the final in March!?
